School is finally in for the graduating class of 2016! We've manged to survive thus far and have a year of fun ahead of us. That is, assuming you can get through all of the senior deadlines and stress with your mental health still intact.
Here are some tips to help you along your path:
1. Remember, not all things will happen according to plan.
With college applications, SAT tests, and of course the occasional senior shenanigan , your schedule for the next few months will be packed. Every moment probably planned out and goal highlighted, but you must remember to keep an open mind about possibility. So you've been rejected from one of your top choices? So what? Their loss. Just remember that you are more than any college response, interview, or SAT score. The school you attend, in no way represents your ability to succeed or your mental capabilities.
2. START EARLY
Although Getting rejected from any college definitely does define who you are as a student or person, not getting your applications in by the deadline is completely on you. You have not been working this hard for the last 3 years to miss the opportunity to show your dream school exactly how amazing you are! Start early on all college essays and applications. In an ideal world, you could have 3 variations of your college essay and just send one in when needed, but realistically... every essay is a bit different and specialized for the school you are applying to. When filling out these applications, give yourself time to review it!
TIP: Always remember the kind of school you are applying to and what you want to achieve at the school. Keep this in mind with your answers so that your essay reflects your interest in that school.
